In the midst of the devastating fifteen-year civil war in Mozambique, an orphaned refugee named Muidinga wanders through the countryside in search of his mother. He is accompanied by an elderly storyteller, and his only guide to finding his mother is a dead man's diary. Together, his companion and the mysterious diary lead Muidinga on a magical, and sometimes macabre, journey across war-torn landscapes to find the family that he lost. Directed by Portuguese filmmaker Teresa Prata, SLEEPWALKING LAND (TERRA SONAMBULA) is an official selection of the prestigious, award-winning Global Lens Collection, presented by the Global Film Initiative. This film is presented in Portuguese with English subtitles.
