Set during Algeria's civil war of the 1990s, ENOUGH! (BARAKAT!) is the story of two women who embark on a dangerous mission to find one's missing spouse. Both represent anachronisms in Islamist Algeria: Amel is a young doctor; Khadidja is an older nurse, with vivid memories of the country's fight for independence. Amel's husband is a journalist whose political writing has led to his disappearance. Was he kidnapped, or perhaps killed? Ignoring curfews and the constant threat of ambush by armed militias, the women must continually challenge the men they encounter to help them in their search. Their journey leads them across picturesque landscapes, to a deeper understanding of how their lives have been shaped by their nation's history. Algerian director Djamila Sahraoui's first feature, ENOUGH! is presented in Arabic and French with English subtitles. This film is an official selection of the prestigious, award-winning Global Lens Collection, presented by the Global Film Initiative.
