Crest Point is stereotypical Anywhere, USA, where people go about their business, attend Friday night football games and the local cops’ biggest worry is youthful pranksters. Stan (Brad Dourif, of HBO's Deadwood, Chucky, and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers) is a 59-year-old recluse who offers cremation services from the basement of his funeral home, though he doesn’t seem very interested in promoting his business. In fact, he’s a deranged sociopath who eliminates anyone he perceives to be a bully. Jarod (Jeremy Sumpter, of Road Trip and TV's Friday Night Lights) is a fatherless, seventeen-year-old outcast who no longer attempts to fit in at school; things aren’t much better at home with his mom’s abusive boyfriend. When Stan takes the beleaguered teen under his wing, they soon develop a demented friendship. But the neophyte makes mistakes and—as Detective Fairchild (Scott Elrod, of Lone Survivor and Argo) struggles to pull together clues from local disappearances—the mortician must decide if his newfound protégé is worth killing for. DEATH AND CREMATION also stars Daniel Baldwin (Born on the Fourth of July, Vampires, TV's Homicide: Life on the Street) and Debbon Ayer (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Garden State).
